This is a call to arms!
40k campaign started on 14 April, but feel free to come and join us.
Now at 2,000 points.
Week 11
This week the defending forces had the upper hand and were trying to assassinate the attacking HQ's in the theory that if you cut of the head of the invasion then the body will die as well.
To the south of the planet the defending Crimson Fists were unable to stop the rampaging Orks who overran the defences, meanwhile another force of Orks ended up being destroyed by Chaos marines.
To the north the defending Space Marines were crushed by the Death Guard whilst nearby more followers of Nurgle were held to a stalemate by the Inquisitions finest warriors.
Elsewhere the Dark Angels had their own agenda, the black armoured and green armoured warriors met on the battlefield, both armies seemed intent on capturing the commanders of the enemy army, whilst the commanders of both armies fell in battle, it was the defenders in black armour who were victorious and managed to capture the commanders of the green armoured Dark Angels. Although the attackers retreated, I am sure they will return soon to try and recover their fallen brothers...
Whilst the war on the planet raged on, the Chaos and Imperial fleets prepared to engage above the planet once again. Both fleets suffered major losses as the flagships on both sides were crippled and the Master of the Fleet and Chaos Warmaster were both killed in action, however the Chaos Lord managed to position 3 carriers over the planet, this will allow him to launch bombers to aid the ground troops.
As the campaign draws to a close the attacking forces are preparing to make the final push to rid the planet of enemies and claim it for themselves, the defending forces have fallen back to the innermost defences and this is their final stand. Will they be able to hold, protected by the light of the Emperor or will evil crush them without mercy? You Decide!!!
Don't forget HQ choices killed in the last battle cannot be used in the same configuration for this game.
Week 10
This week the forces of evil were on a reconnaissance mission to try and locate the defending leaders.
To the south of the planet the Ork hordes surged towards the enemy, however, the Eldar defenders managed to hold off the rampaging greenskins. To the north the forces of Chaos also tried to use brute force to annihilate the defenders and capture the information, The Imperial Guard fell to the tactic as the Death Guard mowed them down without mercy , however, the forces of the Inquisition, Crimson Fists and Eldar managed to halt the Chaos advance and force them to retreat. To the east the Eldar held the Necrons to a stalemate whilst the black-armoured Dark Angels turned on the nearby Space Marines in the fear that they may reveal something to the Inquisitor, however they were unable to retrieve the information as the Space Marines held strong.
Overall the attacking forces suffered a major blow as they were unable to secure the information regarding the whereabouts of the defending leaders, however, unbeknown to the attacking forces, the defenders had sent out their own recon parties and had successfully located the headquarters of the attacking forces, now the defenders have the upper hand...
Week 9
As the overall stalemate continued the forces of evil decided to launch an assault against the armoured defences.
To the north of the planet the forces of Chaos amassed once again, they managed to break through the defences of the Imperial Guard and the Inquisition, however the Eldar managed to hold them off.
To the south of the planet the Orks were unable to break the defences of the black armoured Dark Angels whilst the Eldar defenders turned on the Imperial Guard and Crimson Fists stationed nearby and annihilated them.
In the outer reaches of the planetary system Chaos reinforcements were on their way with more heavy support to try and break the stalemate, however they were ambushed by awaiting Imperial ships, the transport ships made a brave run for safety while their escorts tried to distract the Imperials, but the wrath of the Emperor was merciless and all of the transports were ripped apart before they reached the inner system.
Overall the defenders on the ground took a battering and the forces of evil managed to get through the defences on a large scale, however the loss of reinforcements from space means that they will be hard pressed to keep up the momentum as they are unable to replace lost heavy support.
This means that all players of evil may only select 0-2 Heavy Support choices and their reserves will be at -2 for the next game.
Week 8
This week the attacking forces managed to infiltrate enemy territory and were trying to capture underground missile silos, the defenders caught by suprise rushed to defend them...
To the south of the planet the Space Marine defenders manged to hold off the Orks. The arrival of more Dark Angels on the planet confused the Inquisitor, they wore the same bone coloured robes and the same chapter badge but their armour was dark green, these new arrivals were immediately met with resistance from the Death Guard and despite suffering heavy losses managed to hold them to a draw.
The Inquisitor therefore decided to investigate and went to find the commander of the Dark Angels on the planet, however his questions met hostility and they were forced to retreat leaving these mysterious space marines in charge of one of the missile silos, he wasn't sure if this was a good thing...
The Inquisitor also ordered more of his forces to keep an eye on the Imperial Guard and Eldar forces stationed nearby, upon arrival both forces met hostility, maybe the suspicions and accusations were a step too far, the Imperial Guard managed to keep the Inquisitional forces at bay and keep control of the missile silo whilst the Eldar inflicted heavy losses on the Inquisition but suffered a similar fate, both forces were forced to withdraw.
Elsewhere the Crimson Fists also met aggression when they arrived to support the Eldar, however, a stalemate ensued as neither side could gain the upper hand.
Week 7
This week saw the forces of evil trying to recover information provided by their spies within the defence forces which would give them the weak points in the defences so that they would know where to reinforce with with troops. Likewise, the defenders wanted to recover this information so that they knew where to bolster the defences.
To the north the Imperial Guard managed to recover the information from the forces of chaos whilst the Dark Angels failed to find the information as they were assaulted by more forces of chaos, however in the renegades' blood lust they too failed to find the information. Meanwhile the Eldar defenders stationed nearby suffered horrendous losses against the might of the Death Guard, however they managed to recover the information and escape with it.
To the south the Orks couldn't care less for tactical information and decided that 'stabbin up the humies' was more fun this resulted in neither the Orks or the Space Marine defenders recovering any information.
To the west the forces of the Inquisition decided that they could not trust the Eldar stationed nearby and with any such information and attacked them in a bid to recover it, in the melee the data was lost.
To the East a small force of Blood Angels on patrol were ambushed by Necrons, however their faith in the Emperor saw that the aliens were sent back to the sands.
As the war continued on the ground an Imperial Relief fleet arrived in the system and took a heavy toll on the Chaos ships in orbit before the Chaos closed range and obliterated the Imperial fleet. As the last surviving Imperial ships were chased down and destroyed, the rest of the Chaos fleet took up positions above the planet, ready to start bombarding the defenders...
Week 6
This week the attacking forces were trying to regroup and capture more ground to try and find a different point for another main attack.
To the south the Orks were unable to gain any ground as they were mercilessly gunned down by the forces of the Inquisition. Meanwhile another warband of Orks clashed with traitor marines of the Death Guard legion, but could not capture any additional ground and had to retreat and regroup.
To the north the Thousand Sons attack faltered as the Imperial Guard stood strong whilst a nearby Chaos warband were attacked by a new xenos threat, the Tyranids struck without warning but were held to a stalemate.
Meanwhile, the governor of the planet was pleased at the return of the Dark Angels, these mysterious warriors, their jet black armour, flowing robes and winged sword symbol unchanged for millenia, their tales part of the history of the planet. However, Inquisitor Underwood seemed very suspicious of these space marines, confused by their black armour...
In the Dark Angels returning fight they were unable to hold ground against the chaos marines.
Overall the defending forces managed to hold off the attack for a little while longer...
Week 5
As the attackng forces entered various cities around the planet, bloody urban warfare erupted. To the south of the planet the marauding Orks were kept at bay by the Imperial Guard garrisoned on the planet.
In the north the Inquisition failed to stop a force of renegades from taking over one city, whilst the Crimson Fists suffered the same defeat at the hands of the Death Guard Legion. Meanwhile the Eldar defenders manage to stop the advance of the Thousand Sons.
Overall the defenders managed to force the attackers into a stalemate situation, thus stopping the overall progress of the attack.
Week 4
The attacking forces were this week trying to destroy the defenders' communication network.
To the south of the planet the Eldar where overrun by the Orks who smashed the communication towers into the ground along with the defenders. However, the Blood Angels stationed to the south fared much better and managed to defend the towers from the rampaging Orks.
To the north of the planet the Crimson Fists and forces of the Inquisition were unable to hold against the Chaos renegades and were forced to retreat. Meanwhile the Black Templars were drawn into a stalemate with the traitor marines whilst the Eldar managed to fend off the Death Guard.
Overall the forces of evil managed to temporarily disable the communications network.
Week 3
As the defending forces had just managed to hold out against the attackers they had time to set up ambushes before retreating and luring the enemy into their trap...
To the north the forces of the Inquisition ambushed the Black Legion but were cut down in the traitor marines quest for blood, whilst the space marine defenders suffered a similar fate at the hands of the traitor marines.
To the south the Crimson Fists managed to keep the attacking Orks at bay, however the Tau were overrun by the green horde. In the east the Necrons rose from their tombs again but the ambush set by the Eldar was effective and drove them back to the sands.
Whilst this was going on the Sorcerers of the Thousand Sons ordered their rubric marines into position to attack a nearby force of Death Guard who were thought to posess some new psychic abilities, they ambushed the Death guard without warning and after a bloody encounter left the ruined force with what they were after...
Meanwhile another force of Death Guard were ambushed by more chaos renegades, however they were able to shrug off the ambush.
Another setback for the defending forces as they failed to stall the attack.
Week 2
As the attack continued, the forces of evil came across munitions factories. Two chaos forces clashed in bloody warfare over the same undefended factory, until only one side was left standing. Another chaos force clashed with Orks for a second undefended factory, however, in the Orks keenness to destroy the traitor marines a stray rokkit ignited a stack of ammunition which sent the whole factory up in flames.
To the south the Crimson Fists managed to successfully defend their factory from the Orks. Whilst to the north the Eldar defended against a force of Thousand Sons and Black Legion traitor marines overran the Space Marine defenders. Meanwhile, plague marines from the Death Guard Legion where forced into a stalemate with a force from the Inquisition. Neither side could break the stalemate, so Inquisitor Underwood ordered his men to set demolition charges and withdraw, razing the building to the ground.
Week 1
As dawn broke on the planet of St Michael, the attack began, in the north the chaos assaulted the oil refining areas and managed to defeat the Black Templars that had been stationed there to protect the area.
The Tau empire had responded to the governors distress call and they were stationed to the east alongside the Crimson Fists, however, both armies were caught unaware when an ancient evil arose from the sands, the Necrons assaulted with relentless fury and annihilated the defenders before returning to their tombs, who knows when they will attack again…
The orks launched their invasion to the south but their attack faltered as the imperial forces held strong. At various locations on the planet Eldar arrived, the governor was grateful at first as they started fighting off the invading Chaos, but at one location they turned on the space marine defenders who had discovered an ancient webway portal half buried in the ground. What at first seemed like an aid to a distress call turned out to be a dying race on their own agenda…
Overall the attacking forces managed to secure enough victories to push forward in the assault.
War has returned to the Glebe Sector, a new Waaaaaagh! has amassed and is ploughing through the region, whilst Chaos renegades have also launched an assault on the system. The governor of the capital planet, St Michael, has sent an urgent request for aid, hoping that it will arrive in time...
This 40k campaign will comprise of two broad teams, the first will be formed of the attacking players - Chaos, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids and Dark Eldar. The second team will be the defenders and will be formed of Imperial Forces, Eldar and Tau. But don't panic, you will get the opportunity to betray your ‘comrades' later in the campaign if you so wish.
The first six weeks will be at 1750 points, whilst the last six weeks will be at 2000 points. There will be a different scenario every week, but don't worry if you can't make it down every week, games will be randomly arranged on the night depending on who turns up (Unless you have a grudge you wish to settle, in which case, let me know and I’ll rig it for you. Mwah hah hah hah.).
A fully painted army is not necessary (although preferable), however there will be a prize at the end of the campaign for best painted unit and best overall painted army.
Any interested players need to let me know with their name, army and a army or general’s name.
